"Can Feminists and Non-Feminists Agree On Gender Equality?"

When I first saw the title to this video I was immediately drawn to watch it, because I think the best way to learn about something is to listen to all the different views that there are on the issue. After watching it, though, I was trigerred. It is difficult to believe that there is so many young people that are still so conservative in their views on feminism and gender equality. Statements like "feminism only talks about women's issues, but what about men's?", "but men also suffer repression", "wages are not higher for men, maybe they are just more qualified to do the jobs", etc., make me think that their views on feminism come from a place of ignorance and lack of interest to learn about feminism. But that's just my opinion, what is yours? Watch the video and tell us your point of view in the comments!

The role of USA feminists in the world

Some of the rights we take for granted today, we owe to American feminists, who protested and fought out of basic needs and logical longings. If we take a historical standpoint to go over the achievements of the movement , we would think that milestones such as the right to vote or same-sex marriage, have been reached in a quick succession, compared to the regular length of historical events. Yet, this is nowhere near the truth. In an in-depth analysis of feminism, the movement became divided into three waves, which is potentially explained due to the fact that it was more efficient to focus in one area at a time. You can take a look at some of the most relevant events, which had an aftershook in the world's policies regarding women in this timeline.

The First Wave

As Tom Head states in the beginning of his article " Feminism in the U.S. ", in which he provides a very complete survey of the movement as it has developed in the United States of America, "there has ever been a single united feminism movement". Indeed, what we refer to today as the colossal movement of Feminism, in which women from all over the world take part and fight for equality has always been the product of small congregations of women from all ethnics and social backgrounds, who gathered and fought for their rights. There have been multiple feminisms representing the efforts of women to live to their full humanity in a world shaped by and for men, but I'm not sure there is a capital-F feminism that has dominated the history of feminist thought. (Head, 2017) In the general history of the movement, however, three waves have been clearly distinguished. Each of them deals with a different set of problems. The first wave focused on the fight for the ri

Feminist websites? Yes, please!

In a world in which all industry is mainly ruled by men, women often find themselves wondering what it would be like, to have a place of their own, far from the unachievable beauty standards established by the patriarch society in which we live. That is why we have decided to create this list, with 5 websites created and run exclusively by women: Feministing : this is a news website, with fantastic coverage of everything from pop culture to presidential campaigns to activism on college campuses. Their staff includes young feminists and plenty of writers of color; both long and short reads are featured on the site, and articles are occasionally accompanied by multimedia. Refinery29 : a women's lifestyle publication which strives to help women "live a more stylish and creative life." Sections on the website include fashion, beauty, living, health, entertainment, tech, and news, and the content truly covers all those topics in addition to many more. The Establishment
